Welcome at the website of Kinetic Art by Volkert van der Wijk. The word kine originates from the Greek and means motion. Kinetic Art thus is moving Art, Art in motion. The difference with stationary (static) Art is the extra time dimension. In time the three dimensional shapes are being transformed and shifted and consequently presented in various compositions.

This website shows the greatest part of the collections of sculptures by Volkert van der Wijk. The collection "Fossil of the Future" contains inventions how they could have looked like in the remote past. The collection "Precooked Society" tells about our society of choosing (instead of creating) and the do-without-thinking spirit. The "Sisyphus Machines" encourages the spectator to never give up hope and "Biking Without Wheels" investigates the perfect way of walking, the walking of future mankind.
