Fossil of The Future

The goal of the sculptures contained in the collection ‘Fossil of the Future’ is to fill the holes in history. These holes exist due to a lack of found fossils by which there is not enough information to reconstruct the past. These holes often lead to (free) interpretations about how it could have been, based on the available information but for this rarely unique. More or less obvious commentary is possible and it is of great importance to study them all to enrich and explain our history. Remember that although we might think in the future of yesterday, we mainly live in the past of today.

Fossils are remainings from early but also recent history that give us insight into life and its evolution. A fossil of the future could be an invention that could have been of great importance, but was missed, neglected and forgotten. Inventors have observed it uncritically or found it of no importance, which is a pitty. Important steps in history could have been missed by which our daily life could have looked totally different. Because of this, these inventions must still be done anyway to increase our understanding of the modern society.

A ‘Fossil of the Future’ heals the past, enriches the history by which is tells even more clearly why we are as we are today.
